December 4, 2002 - This call came in as a
home that was filling with smoke possibly due to a malfunctioning
wood-burning stove. 1305 arrived on scene to find a single
story wood frame structure with nothing showing.
Upon entering the home firefighters
determined that a wood burning stove located in the basement of the
structure was not venting properly causing the smoke to backup into
the house.
All burning materials were removed from the
stove and taken outside to be extinguished. The smoke was
quickly disipated with the use of the positive pressure fan.
1C42 was on standby at the scene while
all other responding units returned to quarters. A total of 6
firefighters responded to the scene and were able to clear the scene
in less than 1 hour.
